Our Giving Partners
For many decades, several state and local organizations have given generously to the Purdue University Center for Cancer Research, providing our faculty with necessary resources for dreaming BIG. Thanks in large part to their efforts, our researchers have made great strides in their quests to improve the diagnosis of cancer and are one step closer to finding a cure.
CARROLL COUNTY CANCER ASSOCIATION
Since 1981, the Carroll County Cancer Association has supported a Summer Undergraduate Cancer Research Training Program, allowing Purdue undergraduate students to conduct cancer research laboratory work under the supervision of our researchers.
INDIANA ELKS ASSOCIATION
The Indiana Elks Cancer Research Program was established at Purdue University in 1948. The Indiana Elks Charities, Inc. has supported Purdue’s faculty by providing funding for Innovative Grants. These grants are designed to assist researchers in pursuing pioneering ideas that might not otherwise receive funding. Fighting cancer is the major state project for the Indiana Elks, and more than 70 Indiana lodges raise money each year for cancer research in Indiana. The Indiana Elks have been contributing to Purdue’s Cancer Center for several decades, and the organization’s contributions have recently passed the $2.7 million mark.
INDIANA FRATERNAL ORDER OF THE EAGLES
The Eagles Art Ehrmann Cancer Fund was established by the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in 1959. Before losing his battle with cancer, Art Ehrmann served as the editor of Eagle publications for 25 years and was the first director of the Eagles Cancer Fund. Contributions support cancer research through a Small Grants Program.
LAFAYETTE LIONS CLUB
Since 1978, the Lafayette Lions Club has honored one of our faculty members each year with a Lafayette Lions Club Research Award to support his or her continued strides in cancer research. The Purdue Cancer Center faculty member is also recognized at the organization’s annual dinner each June.
WEST LAFAYETTE SAGAMORE LIONS CLUB
Each year, the West Lafayette Sagamore Lions Club conducts a candy sale and donates the proceeds to both the Purdue and Indiana University Cancer Centers. Funds support the Summer Undergraduate Cancer Research Training Program.
In 2008, the West Lafayette Sagamore Lions Club established an endowment at the Purdue Cancer Center that will fund an annual cancer research symposium. This symposium will provide a forum for scientists to discuss the state of cancer research and the progress being made to end the suffering and death caused by cancer.

WL Sagamore Lions Club members
Glenn Wentland, Bill Lovell, Dr. Elaine Ostrander, NIH researcher and first symposium speaker, Ken Bales, Koh Knox, Peggy Bales, and Dr.Timothy Ratliff, Director of the Purdue Cancer Center.
